Happy

I asked Maria and her son Victor, our hosts at cafe in Bahía del Tortuga, how is life?

“Although we live a simple life… we are happy.”

Well there you have it!  A large family… a piece of land by the sea … a little business bringing fuel to the boats in the bay … the internet cafe… Maria, Enrique, Jesus and Victor … Happy.

In the “civilized world”… with fancy perfumes, $500/hour lawyers, surgeons to fix our little crooked noses and perfectly paved roads … we run everyday in circles to get to happiness. I think we got it all wrong.

Happiness is a state of mind. I met wealthy people who make more money in a year than I made my whole life. And they still think that they need more to be able to retire well, to be happy.

Life is happening now… so we should be happy now. Wherever we are, whatever we have. Happiness is a state of mind. Some dream about it. Some … live it.

This is what this life changing experience is for me. I’m looking to get to that state of mind. I want to feel like singing when I wake up in the morning.

I am fighting the addiction of “have to’s” and “having to have things”.

All I need is the same state of mind like Maria, Victor, Enrique and Jesus.

Happy… Aren’t we all? I’m working on it… ⛵️☀️
