Anchoring Etiquette.

We had heard of them, people anchoring way too close, and now we’ve met one. Actually, this is the second one, but so obnoxious. that it warrants a rant.

We come to this empty bay, nice and wide, large anchoring shelf of 27′. We anchor far away from the only other boat in the bay, we rest, puddle around.

Suddenly, this boat comes and anchors right next to us. Really?! I yell over (yes, he is that close!) that we have a lot of chain out and might swing into him, once the nightly winds start blowing. He doesn’t care, says the winds will blow us in a different direction and drops his anchor.

Radu comes up to the cockpit from below ‘You’re too close my friend!’. Reply ‘Yes, your wife said something”. I shout ‘Don’t you think the bay is big enough for us all?’ No reaction. He proceeds to let out more scope. Annoyed, we pick up anchor and move away.

Please, reader who cruises, if you come to a cove and see our ‘Imagine’ anchored (pictured below), please believe us, when we shout to you, that we have 7/1 scope out expecting a windy night. And, if you can hear me shouting, you are too close. Please find a nice spot far away, so that we both may enjoy our stay.

Thanks.
